Baseball Drops Final Non-Conference Contest of the Season

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The Indiana University Kokomo baseball team dropped its final non-conference tilt of the season on Tuesday evening as the Cougars fell, 7-2 to Grace College. IU Kokomo's record falls to 25-18 on the year
 
Key Moments
  • Grace plated three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead over the Cougars. 
  • Masen Melton got the Cougars on the board in the top of the second with his first home run of the season, making it a 3-1 contest. 
  • An IU Kokomo error extended the bottom of the second inning for the Lancers, allowing them to add two more runs to extend their lead to 5-1. 
  • Another run from Grace made it a 6-1 game after three complete innings.
  • With two outs in the fourth, Tucker Platt reached on a single to centerfield. Sean Becker and Bryce Lenz both recorded singles. Lenz's single scored Platt to, making the game, 6-2. 
  • The Lancers added one more run to their total in the seventh which made the final score, 7-2. 
Pitching
  • The Cougars used seven different pitchers in Tuesday's game, the most they have used in a single game this season.
  • Sam Hinshaw got the start and tossed two innings, allowing five runs on five hits, and taking the loss. 
  • Mark Goudy pitched the final inning for the Cougars and struck out two batters.

  • The Cougars will wrap up the regular season this weekend as they host Point Park University in a pivotal River States Conference series at Kokomo Municipal Stadium. The first two games of the series will be on Friday beginning at 10 a.m. and the two teams will wrap up the series with a single game on Saturday at 5 p.m.
