Women's Soccer Beats Ohio Christian 3-0 on Senior Night for Fifth Straight Win

KOKOMO, Ind. – The IU Kokomo women's soccer team beat Ohio Christian 3-0 on senior night for their fifth straight win and eighth win in their last nine matches. The Cougars improved to 10-1-3 with the victory, and 6-0-1 in River States Conference play.

With tonight's win, the Cougars have earned the first double-digit win season in program history.

The Cougars outshot Ohio Christian 33-10 and 17-5 in shots on goal. Senior goalkeeper Erica Bolinger made all five saves for a clean-sheet win on senior night.

Less than three minutes into the game, Kelsi Hoot and Cassie Dispennett forced saves by the OCU goalkeeper. 

After a flurry of shots, Morgan Scruggs found the back of the net to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute. Scruggs's sixth goal of the season was set up by assists from Ashlyn Morefield and Keely Hoopingarner.

Scruggs would beat the goalkeeper again in the 27th minute for a 2-0 IUK lead. Hoopingarner picked up her second assist on Scruggs's second goal of the night and seventh of the season. IU Kokomo led Ohio Christian 2-0 after 45 minutes.

The Cougars came out of halftime strong, firing seven shots in the first eight minutes with four on goal. The Cougs eventually cashed in in the 55th minute thanks to Skylor Mannon's third goal of the season. Mannon snuck a shot past the goalie to give IU Kokomo a 3-0 lead with 35 minutes to play.

IU Kokomo continued to attack offensively in the final 35 minutes, but were unable to add on to their three-goal lead. IUK beat Ohio Christian 3-0 to stay undefeated in conference play.

Morgan Scruggs had two goals on four shots on goal. Skylar Mannon had a goal on three shots on goal. Keely Hoopingarner had two assists on the night and a team-high five shots on goal.

IU Kokomo and Point Park are tied atop the RSC standings with three matches remaining. The Cougars and Pioneers will meet at Kokomo Municipal Stadium Saturday October 29th, on the final day of the regular season.

The Cougars will travel to Kentucky for a matchup with Midway Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1:00 P.M.
