Grand Rapids, MI – The Indiana University Kokomo women's soccer team headed north for their first road contest of the season. They took on #14 Aquinas College for the second time in the programs history.
The Saints came out hot and never looked back on their way to a 10-1 victory. They picked up their first goal of the match at the 8 minute mark. Aquinas would add four more in the first half to take a 5-0 lead into the break. The Cougars would take the intermission to regroup and showed some resilience. IU Kokomo did not register a shot on goal in the first half but picked up their aggressiveness in the second half. The Cougars would take 8 shots in the second half and put seven of those on goal.
On the defensive end, IU Kokomo would record 7 saves on a very aggressive Saints offense that took 36 shots overall. The lone goal for the Cougars came on the 48th minute as
Keely Hoopingarner grabbed her first goal of the season for IU Kokomo.
The Cougars will have a quick turn around as they head east to take on Taylor University Monday at 7pm in Upland, IN. This is the second meeting between the teams with Taylor taking the first meeting last season.
