KOKOMO, Ind. – The Indiana University Kokomo women's basketball team dropped a conference matchup to Midway University Saturday afternoon inside the Student Activities and Events Center. The first half was tightly contested but a dominant third quarter performance from Midway proved to be the difference in a 77-58 defeat for the Cougars.

The Eagles of Midway held a five-point lead over the Cougars three minutes into the game, but IU Kokomo scored five straight to tie the game at eight. Midway outscored IUK 10-6 in the remaining minutes of the opening quarter to lead 18-14.

IU Kokomo battled Midway toughly in the second quarter, but the Cougars were unable to take a lead despite coming within a point of the Eagles on two separate occasions. Midway took a 38-32 lead into the halftime break.

The third period was dominated by the Eagles, who outscored IU Kokomo 28-8 in the third quarter. The Cougars shot just 18.8% from the field in the quarter and allowed Midway to shoot 73.3%.
IU Kokomo responded to the tough third quarter by ending the game on a high note. The Cougars were able to outscore Midway by seven points in the fourth quarter but ultimately fell to the Eagles, 77-58.

Tia Chambers led IU Kokomo with 10 points and seven rebounds and was the only Cougar in double figures. Anya Friend had three triples for nine points. Jadah Anderson added seven points.

The Cougars will return to action Wednesday, December 8, as they welcome Huntington University to town for a non-conference matchup. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
