Men’s Basketball Narrowly Defeats Lincoln College 67-63

LINCOLN, Ill. – The Indiana University Kokomo men's basketball team upended Lincoln College Tuesday afternoon 67-63. With the nonconference win, the Cougars improve to 14-3 on the season.

The first half proved to be fairly low-scoring and IU Kokomo trailed 8-5 early, but the Cougars did well to regain momentum. A Jaylin Chinn jumper gave the Cougars their largest lead of the first half at 19-10 with 6:28 remaining, but the Lynx responded well to take a 25-24 lead into halftime.

Lincoln scored the first six points of the second half to extend their lead to 31-24, but a Chris Chin layup gave IUK their first lead of the second half. Leading 41-40, the Cougars utilized an 11-0 run fueled by seven Hunter Jackson points, to take a 52-40 lead. The IU Kokomo lead ballooned to as many as 14 at 59-45, but the Lynx outscored the Cougars 18-9 over the final 5:51 of the game. The 14-point IUK lead proved to be too much to overcome, as IU Kokomo ultimately beat Lincoln 67-63.

Desean Hampton led IU Kokomo in scoring with 15 points and six rebounds. Chris Chin had a season-high 14 points. Trequan Spivey added 13 points and seven rebounds. Hunter Jackson led the Cougars on the glass with nine boards.

The Cougars will take a short break for the holidays before they welcome Goshen College to the Student Activities and Events Center Wednesday, December 29. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
