Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana University Kokomo women's basketball team fell to Division II University of Indianapolis in an exhibition game Monday afternoon, 70-43.
After a tough opening quarter that ended with the Cougars trailing 25-4, the Greyhounds were only able to outscore IU Kokomo by six points over the course of the final three quarters.
The second period saw the Greyhounds grow their lead to as many as 29 on multiple occasions, but the Cougars had trimmed the lead to 26 at 43-17 by halftime.
Both teams got off to a slow start coming out of halftime, as the third quarter proved to be the lowest-scoring quarter of the game. The Cougars and Greyhounds each scored nine third quarter points to keep a 26-point margin heading into the fourth quarter.
IU Kokomo was able to trim the Greyhound lead to as little as 22 points with six minutes remaining, but U Indy responded well. The Greyhounds extended their lead to as many as 31 points in the final minutes, ultimately defeating the Cougars 70-43.
Vanessa Mullins led IU Kokomo with nine points while
Shamaria Walker had eight points.
Tia Chambers had added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds
The Cougars will return to the court on New Year's Day, as they will take on College of the Ozarks (Mo.) in a neutral-site game in University Park, Illinois. Tipoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
