MIDWAY, Ky. – The Indiana University Kokomo women's soccer team defeated Midway 3-0, behind a strong performance offensively from junior
Keely Hoopingarner. Hoopingarner netted two goals in today's victory. With the win, the Cougars finish the regular season with an overall record of 6-8-2, and a 6-4-1 record in the River States Conference.
Today's win was the first win against Midway in program history. IU Kokomo outshot the Eagles 19-4.
The Cougars got on the board early on a
Keely Hoopingarner goal in the third minute. The goal, Hoopingarner's sixth of the season, was assisted by
Brook Switzer. The game remained scoreless until the 76
th minute when junior
Cassie Dispennett was able to beat the Midway goalie for her first goal of the season.
The Cougars were not done yet, as Hoopingarner struck again in the 79
th minute. Hoopingarner's two goals on the afternoon made her the first Cougar on the season to record a multi-goal game.
Keely Hoopingarner led IU Kokomo with two goals on 11 shots.
Cassie Dispennett added a goal on one shot.
Kelsi Hoot tallied five shots, with three on goal.
Alicia Burns had the shutout in goal, earning the victory for IU Kokomo.
The Cougars will travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to take on Point Park University Saturday, November 6, in the quarterfinals of the River States Conference tournament. Kickoff is TBD.
