RIO GRANDE, Ohio - The winning streak continues for the Indiana University Kokomo volleyball squad as the Cougars took down Rio Grande on Saturday. The win is the 20th of the season for the Cougars, marking their ninth straight season of 20 wins or more. The Cougars are now 12-1 in River States Conference action and continue to hold a one game advantage over Midway with four conference matches to play. 

The Cougars hit .375 in the victory with 42 kills and nine errors in 88 total attempts. Erinn Adam led the way with a match-high nine kills while Lorelei Porter added eight. Kaley Lyons dished out a match-high 21 kills while Kendal Williams chipped in with 13. 

The Cougars took advantage of three errors and three kills, two from Adam and one from Sidney Gerig to take an early 6-1 lead over the RedStorm. IU Kokomo bult their lead to 11-5 forcing Rio Grande to call their first timeout of the first set. 

IU Kokomo would never surrender the lead for the remainder of the set on the way to a 25-17 opening set win. 

In the second, the Cougars dominated from start-to-finish, opening the set on a 15-1 run, immediately putting things out of reach for the RedStorm. IUK would win the second 25-10 to go up 2-0 in the match. 

In the third set, the Cougars trailed briefly, 2-1 but it would not last long as three straight points that ended on a service ace from Williams gave IUK a 4-2 lead. The RedStorm would manage to keep it close but a 9-2 run, would extend the IU Kokomo lead to 20-12. A 5-1 IU Kokomo run would end the match and give the Cougars their 15th sweep of the season. 

The Cougars will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Owensboro, Kentucky to take on the Brescia Bearcats. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
