Pete Thatcher

Pete Thatcher enters his third season as co-head coach of the Indiana University Kokomo men’s golf program in 2026-27 after being hired prior to the 2024-25 academic year. Alongside fellow co-head coach Greg Kloenne, Thatcher has helped guide the Cougars through steady growth and continued development within the highly competitive River States Conference while building depth throughout the roster.

During the 2025-26 season, IU Kokomo continued to make strides against strong regional competition, recording multiple top-five finishes throughout the year while showing consistency across both the fall and spring schedules. The Cougars captured team titles at the Holy Cross Invitational at Rock Hollow and the SXU Invite, while also posting runner-up finishes at the Holy Cross Spring Invite and several additional top-five tournament finishes throughout the season. IU Kokomo closed the year with a seventh-place finish at the River States Conference Championships after competing against one of the league’s deepest fields in recent years.

The Cougars also demonstrated improvement throughout the 2025-26 campaign with strong performances at several premier events, including fourth-place finishes at both the Egypt Valley Intercollegiate and Midway Eagle Invitational. IU Kokomo additionally placed fourth at the LTU Spring Shootout while consistently lowering team scores throughout the spring portion of the season.

In his first season with the program during 2024-25, Thatcher helped the Cougars produce several strong performances against both conference and regional opponents. IU Kokomo captured the team title at the IUK Spring Shootout after shooting a two-round score of 603 at Wildcat Creek Golf Course and added a runner-up finish at the Saints Classic hosted at the prestigious Warren Golf Course in Notre Dame. The Cougars also finished sixth at the River States Conference Championships while competing in a balanced and competitive conference field.

Under Kloenne and Thatcher's leadership, the program has continued emphasizing player development, consistency, and competitive growth while competing against strong NAIA and regional opposition throughout the Midwest.
