HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. — IU Kokomo lost to Cincinnati-Clermont 2-1 at Northern Kentucky University on Wednesday. The Cougars outshot Cincinnati-Clermont 32-11 and put 16 shots on goal, but a 23-shot second half did not bring an equalizer.
First Half

Sydney Miller made a save in the fourth minute before
Madison Balf scored at 6:39 off an assist from
Gia Tumber to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.
- Cincinnati-Clermont answered at 8:23 when Ava Scherz scored from a Kaylee Rose assist, then Jordan Geis converted a penalty kick at 12:25 to move the home side in front 2-1.
- IUK pushed for an equalizer later in the half, with
Kaitlyn Swartzendruber hitting the crossbar at 24:47 and the post at 31:08.
- The Cougars kept pressure on from there, earning three corner kicks and putting two shots on goal between 31:24 and 39:22, but Cincinnati-Clermont kept its 2-1 lead through the end of the half.
Second Half
- With the score at 2-1, the Cougars started the half with sustained pressure, including early shots by
Kaiya Money,
Addison Waller and
Grace Jarrells, plus a
Charity Lewis corner kick. Waller recorded a season-high of four shots on goal during the match.
- IUK kept pressing through the middle of the half, with Waller forcing multiple saves and Lewis hitting the post at 67:25 before
Avery Wilson and Waller added attempts in the next minute.
- The Cougars continued to create chances late, including back-to-back corner kicks at 75:13 and 75:57 and a series of saved shots after Jordan Geis entered in goal for Cincinnati-Clermont.

Sydney Miller made saves on Kaylee Rose and Aubrey Slack during a Cincinnati-Clermont push in the 84th minute, and the Cougars answered with late attempts by Balf and
Madison Walczak as the score remained 2-1. Balf registered a season-high of seven shots in the game.

The Cougars return to action by hosting Governors State University on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m. at Kokomo Municipal Stadium in Kokomo, Indiana.
