THE RUNDOWN
- Indiana Wesleyan opened up the scoring, putting up four runs through their first two innings of offense. The Cougars scratched one of their own across in the bottom half of the second, courtesy of an RBI ground out from Jack Taulman, who drove in his younger brother Brock Taulman.
- The Wildcats added two more runs to their lead in the top of the fourth, making the lead 6-1. However, in the home half of the frame, the Cougar bats got hot.
- The scoring started with an RBI single from Jedvier Garcia, who drove home Riley Sands. Bradyn Douglas continued the rally with a single to center that plated Noah Wolf. Peyton Lear doubled down the left field line and drove in both Garcia and Douglas, making the score 6-5 on his first collegiate knock.
- Indiana Wesleyan took the lead to 8-5 in the next half inning, but the Cougars cut back into it an inning later, as Corbin Napier picked up a 2-RBI single in the sixth, driving home Garcia and Wolf.
- In the seventh, Brock Taulman led the inning off with a single to right, and was followed by Riley Sands, who drew a walk. Luke Hanson came up to the plate, and placed a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt that paid its dividends a batter later as Taulman came across to score, evening the game at eight.
- Indiana Wesleyan managed a run in the top of the eighth to regain the lead, 9-8. In the bottom of the ninth, Riley Sands reached with a one-out single, and went first to third thanks to a pinch-hit single from Nate Montgomery. Noah Wolf tied the game with a long sacrifice fly to left field, and there was free baseball in Kokomo.
- Both teams went scoreless in the tenth, but the bats wouldn't be silenced for long. As the 11th inning began, Indiana Wesleyan went double, bunt single, and then a triple that would later score, to re-take the lead 12-9.
- In the home half, the Cougars began with a lead off, pinch-hit double from Nate Olsen, who collected his first career hit. He eventually came around to score, but the Cougar offense fizzled out the rest of the inning, ultimately dropping the game 12-10.
