  • IU Kokomo's leading attacker Kaiya Money got the scoring started once again, notching the Cougars first goal of conference play for a 1-0 lead in the 34th minute.
  • With the Cougars leading 1-0 at halftime, Kentucky Christian evened the match with a goal in the 59th minute.
  • After a KCU foul inside the box gifted IU Kokomo a penalty kick in the 75th minute, veteran goalscorer Kaiya Bogers converted the opportunity to give the Cougars a lead they would not relinquish.
  • Less than 10 minutes later IU Kokomo would strike again to extend the lead to two, as freshman Avery Wilson netted her third career goal in the 81st minute via a Rylee Walczak assist.

LEADING THE CHARGE
  • Avery Wilson and Kaiya Money led the Cougars offensively Thursday, each firing six shots towards the goal and converting on their lone shot on goal.
  • Kaiya Bogers recorded her first goal of the season, as the senior from Whitby Ontario, Canada looks to find her stride offensively.

INSIDE THE HUDDLE
  • "Opening conference today with a win is great. The River States Conference is always competitive and teams are always fighting for opportunities to be at the top of the table. Tonight we needed to capitalize on our opportunities that we missed and defensively we need to make sure we're not allowing opportunities in the transition. Overall, competing is where we need to be and we competed in the second half for sure." - Head Coach Sohaila Akhavein
