TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Women's Tennis team picked up their second-consecutive victory Sunday, beating NCAA Division III foe Rose-Hulman inside the Terre Haute Tennis & Pickleball Center.

Doubles Courts:
The Cougars were unable to pick up a win at any of the three doubles courts, as the Fightin' Engineers took a 1-0 lead into singles play after narrowly escaping with three tightly-contested doubles wins.

IU Kokomo's #1 and #3 doubles pairings' of Ava Allen/Reiley Hiser and Kennedy Perrin/Mia Federspill both lost 6-4, while the #2 doubles tandem of Sophia Davidson/Chloe Schmidt lost their match in a tiebreaker, 6-7 (8-6).

Singles Courts:
IU Kokomo and Rose-Hulman traded singles points to open singles play, as the Fightin' Engineers led 3-2 with the final two singles matches still on court.

Senior captain Reiley Hiser was first off the court at #2 singles, setting the tone for singles action as she made quick work of her opponent, winning 6-0, 6-0 to even the match 1-1. 

A well-handled 6-1, 6-3 victory for Mia Federspill was sandwiched between a pair of hard-fought wins for RHIT at #3 and #4 singles, making it a 3-2 Fightin' Engineers lead with #1 and #6 singles being the only matches left on court. Both Chloe Schmidt and Kennedy Perrin turned in tremendous efforts despite falling, fighting hard to keep momentum on the side of the Cougars.

After taking the first set to settle in, IU Kokomo's Ava Allen roared back to take sets two and three, evening the match score 3-3 with the decisive point at #6 singles still on court.

There, Cougar freshman Graciella Solis won her match decisively, beating Rose-Hulman's Isha Mannan 6-2, 6-2 to clinch a 4-3 victory for IU Kokomo

The Cougars will next be in action this Wednesday for the first home match of 2025. First-serve against Saint Francis (Ind.) is set for 7:00 PM inside the Howard County Indoor Tennis Center.
