Four Cougars Score in Double Figures as Men's Basketball Dominates Oakland City

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Men's Basketball team continued their strong play with a limited roster, dominating Oakland City for a 28-point road win. With the victory, the Cougars have now won four-straight and are 17-8 overall and 8-5 in River States Conference action.

IU Kokomo jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead on the road Tuesday night, setting the tone for a dominant effort. Former Mighty Oak turned Cougar Drake Moore scored in the paint just over eight minutes in, extending the Cougar lead to double-digits for the first time on the night.

After a Noah Harris dunk gave IUK a 13-point lead at 33-19, Oakland City utilized a 9-0 run to trim their deficit to five points with 5:37 to play in the first half. From then on however, IU Kokomo outscored the Mighty Oaks 17-4 to take a 50-32 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Oakland City managed to cut the IU Kokomo lead to 11 at the 17:20 mark, but seventh year head coach Eric Echelbarger's squad was on cruise control for the rest of the second half, rolling to an 83-55 victory inside the Johnson Center.

Four Cougars scored in double-figures Tuesday night on the road, as Evan Kretz poured in a team-high 20 points. Reigning RSC Offensive Player of the Week Noah Harris continued his strong play, scoring 20 points on an efficient 7-11 shooting while grabbing seven rebounds.

Fifth-year point guard Chris Chin excelled Tuesday evening, scoring 15 points, grabbing six rebounds, and dishing four assists. Max Newman finished one rebound shy of a double-double, totaling 13 points and nine boards.

The Cougars will return home for Senior Day this Saturday, as they will welcome the Brescia Bearcats to town for a 1:00 PM tip-off. Senior day festivities will be held prior to tip.
