Sprankles Concludes Career at the NAIA National Championship

TALLAHASSEE, Fl. - Senior Leslie Sprankles officially closed the book on an impressive IU Kokomo cross country career Friday morning at the NAIA National Championship Meet, hosted at Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Florida.

Competing against the nation's best, Sprankles placed 189th in a deep field of 331 runners, capping her collegiate journey on one of the sport's biggest stages.

The Bluffton, Indiana native completed the challenging 6k championship course in 23:47.00. The course, known for its rolling terrain, tested athletes from start to finish, and Sprankles battled through to deliver a strong performance in her final race as a Cougar.

Jaynie Halterman of Taylor University claimed the individual national title with a winning time of 20:13, helping lead Taylor to the overall team championship as well.

"Leslie had an outstanding race today. She beat some women that she had never beaten before today. She has had a phenomenal cross country season and will end her career as one of the best athletes in IUK Women's Cross Country History." - Head Coach Josh Colvin
