KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo women's soccer team kept their winning streak alive Saturday night under the lights on Senior Night, fending off a late Brescia rally to earn a 3-2 victory.

THE RUNDOWN
- Saturday's matchup was as evenly contested as they come, with Brescia outshooting IU Kokomo 14-13 and both teams recording seven shots on goal.
- The Cougars struck early and frequently in the first half, with Kaiya Bogers connecting with Gia Tumber, who finished past the goalkeeper to give IU Kokomo a 1-0 lead in the eighth minute.
- Freshman Avery Wilson extended the lead just over six minutes later, thanks to a setup from senior Sydney Miller, who was playing in the field for the first time in her college career. Wilson's goal gave IU Kokomo a 2-0 advantage, and Miller recorded her first career point with the assist. The Cougars carried that lead into halftime.
- Eager to extend their lead, the Cougars struck again in the 49th minute. Kaiya Bogers notched her second assist of the night, setting up Addison Waller—playing her first game back from injury—for a goal that put IU Kokomo ahead 3-0 with 40 minutes remaining.
- The Brescia Bearcats weren't ready to go down without a fight, scoring in the 52nd and 83rd minutes to cut IU Kokomo's lead to just one with under 10 minutes remaining. However, the Cougars held firm, keeping Brescia off the scoreboard in the final moments to secure a hard-fought 3-2 victory. The win puts IU Kokomo in sole possession of second place in the River States Conference with two matches remaining.
LEADING THE CHARGE
- Gia Tumber opened the scoring Saturday with her second goal of the season, while Kaiya Bogers recorded her second and third assists of the year, setting up both goals.
- Avery Wilson's fifth goal of the season gave IU Kokomo a 2-0 lead and tied her with teammate Kaiya Money for the team lead in goals.
- As noted, senior goalkeeper Sydney Miller made her first start in the field last night, recording her first career point with the assist on Wilson's goal.
- A key addition to IUK's offense, Addison Waller scored her second goal of the season in just her fourth match of the fall, with her strike proving to be the game-winner.
