BECKLEY, W. Va. - The 16th-ranked IU Kokomo volleyball team struggled at times but came away with a 3-1 win Friday afternoon at WVU Tech, improving to 11-0 in River States Conference play.

THE RUNDOWN
- IU Kokomo struggled in the opening set, hitting just .026 and giving up a costly 9-0 run they couldn't recover from, resulting in a 25-18 loss.
- After WVU Tech took an early 5-2 lead in the second set, the Cougars responded by winning eight of the next nine points to take a 10-6 advantage. IU Kokomo held the lead for the rest of the set, closing it out 25-17.
- The third set was highlighted 12-0 run by IU Kokomo after trailing by two, as the Cougars cruised to a 25-10 victory to take a 2-1 lead.
- The fourth set was more competitive than the third, but the Cougars maintained momentum and control, winning 25-14 to secure a 3-1 victory.
LEADING THE CHARGE
- Three Cougars recorded double-digit kills, led by Mia Niekamp with a match-high 16. Mya Grigsby added 15, while Cali Cummings tallied 13 — her highest total since the season opener against Bethel (Ind.) — and hit an impressive .320.
- Sophomores Avery Littrell and Chloe Carpenter anchored the IU Kokomo back row Friday, with Littrell posting a match-high 19 digs and Carpenter close behind with 17. Ava Rundle added nine digs, while Grigsby chipped in with eight.
- Allison Richman paced the Cougar setters with 27 assists, while Macy Chafin contributed 18.
- Lexi Broyles contributed eight kills and added a strong defensive presence with three solo blocks.
