DANIELS, W. Va. - The IU Kokomo women's basketball team picked up a much needed win Saturday afternoon, dominating the Golden Bears of WVU Tech on their home floor to win 78-56. With the victory, the Cougars improve to 8-11 overall and 4-4 in River States Conference action.
WVU Tech entered Saturday's contest having lost 14 straight, as the Golden Bears only managed to keep pace with IU Kokomo in the opening minutes of the game.
The Cougars led by two at 11-9 with 6:05 remaining in the first, before outscoring WVU Tech 11-4 to take a 22-13 lead into the second quarter.
After the Golden Bears scored the first four points of the second period, IU Kokomo scored eight-straight to extend their lead to 13 at 30-17. Head coach Lisa Pflueger's squad would maintain control for the remainder of the first half, taking a 45-31 halftime lead into the locker room.
IU Kokomo's most dominant quarter of play came in the third, as the Cougs more than doubled up the Golden Bears 21-10. Six different Cougars scored in the period, as a
Cameryn Rector jumper made it a 25-point IUK lead heading into the fourth quarter.
The Cougars maintained at least a 20 point lead for the entirety of the fourth quarter, cruising to a 78-56 road win over WVU Tech.
Junior guard
Chloe McClain made her return from injury Saturday in Beckley, pouring in a game-high 19 points on 7-14 shooting from the field. McClain knocked down five triples and pulled down five rebounds.

Mia Catey and
Anna Kiser had their way inside for much of the afternoon, as Catey finished with 16 points and five rebounds while Kiser recorded 14 points and eight boards.Â
The Cougars will now return home to begin a three-game home-stand Thursday against 11th ranked Rio Grande. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM inside the Student Activities & Events Center.
