KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's soccer team put their three-match win-streak on the line Sunday afternoon as they welcomed the Warriors of Indiana Tech to town for a non-conference match-up. Indiana Tech would score a pair of late goals to win 3-1.

The Cougars and Warriors were locked in a stalemate for much of the first half, until IU Kokomo's Mackenzie Gibbons the Indiana Tech goalkeeper with a scorching shot on target. Ursula Romero had an answer for the impressive shot, making an impressive save to keep the match even.

Indiana Tech would strike first late in the first half, as a corner kick resulted in a deflection that lead to a tap-in goal for the Warriors and 1-0 lead thru 45 minutes.

Trailing 1-0 just over five minutes into the second half, an Indiana Tech handball in the box gifted the Cougars a penalty kick and a chance to even the score 1-1. IU Kokomo senior Brooklyn Garber's shot was saved by Romero, yet another nice save by the senior goalie.

Kailee Moore got the start in net for IU Kokomo, making four saves in 56 minutes of action. Junior Sydney Miller replaced Moore in goal in the 56th minute. Miller was tested in goal a few times midway thru the second half by the Warriors offense, but had an answer. 

After spending several minutes in the attacking zone, IU Kokomo finally broke through in the 82nd minute with an equalizer. Liz Sandoval received a quick pass from Kelsi Hoot on the corner kick before dribbling past a defender and booting the ball over Romero's head and into the back of the net for her first of the season.

A couple more chances followed for the Cougars immediately after tying it at one, but the Warriors would score twice in the final four minutes to steal a 3-1 road win over IU Kokomo at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.

The Cougars will be back-in-action Wednesday night on the road, as they will head north to Michigan to battle the Saints of Siena Heights at 7:00 PM.
