KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo volleyball team returned to action Friday at home after a much-needed 12 days off, beating Campbellsville University in four-sets for a second-consecutive win.

Kaley Lyons added yet another milestone to her storied collegiate career with her 15th assist of the match, becoming the first IU Kokomo volleyball student-athlete in program history to reach 3,000 career assists.
Tied 6-6 early in the opener, IU Kokomo utilized a 6-0 run to take a 12-6 lead midway thru the set. The Tigers would get within two points late in the set, but it was too little too late as the Cougars won set one 25-21.
Set two proved to be all Campbellsville, as the Tigers held a commanding 13-5 lead and cruised to a 25-16 set victory that evened the match at a set apiece.
Looking to bounce back from a lackluster set two, the Cougars jumped out to a 6-1 lead before forcing a Tiger timeout while leading 18-10 later on in the set. IU Kokomo took a 2-1 lead with a 25-14 set three win.
Head coach
Heather Hayes's squad continued their strong play early in the fourth, winning 10 of the first 12 points for a commanding eight-point lead. Campbellsville managed to trim the deficit to five but the Cougs rolled to a 25-15 set win to close out a four-set victory.
Mya Grigsby led the IU Kokomo attack with 15 kills while tallying 12 digs for her eighth career double-double in 13 matches. She also recorded a whopping six aces.
Cali Cummings hit .348 in the match with 13 kills, while
Maggie Connell recorded a double-double of 13 kills and 13 digs.Â
Lyons led the setters with 27 assists as
Allison Richman recorded 19. Libero
Ellie Garland also added 13 digs in the four-set victory.
The Cougars will face a stiff test Saturday morning in the 19-0 Patriots of Cumberlands (Ky.) at 10:00 AM. IUK will close the weekend out with a matchup against Saint Xavier (Ill.) at 12:30 PM.
