OWENSBORO, Ky. - The Indiana University Kokomo men's basketball team lost by 10 Saturday at Brescia to close the regular season, as River States Conference Championship play begins this week.
The Cougars earned the #5 seed in the RSC, and will travel to West Virginia to take on #4 seed WVU Tech Wednesday night in the RSC Men's Basketball Championship Quarterfinals.
Brescia led early but the Cougars managed to take their first lead at 8-6 on a fast-break bucket from
Hunter Jackson. The two sides traded buckets for much of the remainder of the first half, as Brescia took a narrow 38-37 lead into the locker room.
The Bearcats quickly extended their lead to seven in the opening minutes of the second half, but IU Kokomo immediately answered, tying the score at 50 with 13:43 to play.
Trailing Brescia by two 9:39 remaining, the Bearcats utilized a 12-0 run to lead by 14 at 72-58 with less than six minutes to go. Brescia would go on to close out an 83-73 win over IU Kokomo Saturday.
Joseph Annan Jr. continued his hot-stretch in the loss, scoring 21 points and pulling down eight rebounds.
Chris Chin had 15 points and five assists while
Hunter Jackson had 14 points and nine boards.Â
