MIDWAY, Ky. - The IU Kokomo men's basketball team hung on for an 84-82 road win Tuesday night at Midway. With the win, the Cougars are now 19-6 overall and 9-6 in River States Conference play.
Four Cougars scored in double-figures in the win, led by
Chris Chin with 18 points in 38 minutes of action.
Max Newman added another double-double to his name with 15 points and 13 boards while
Joseph Annan Jr. tallied 15 points and 11 rebounds for a double-double of his own.
Dell DeMyers chipped in 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists while sophomore forward
Cameron Karns had six crucial points in nine minutes.
In what proved to be a tightly-contested game from the tip-off, it was IU Kokomo who held a narrow 11-7 lead after a fast-break bucket from
Chris Chin less than four minutes in to the game.
Midway took their first lead of the game at 14-13 but the Cougars quickly regained a lead of their own that they would maintain for rest of the half. IU Kokomo entered the locker room at halftime with a 44-40 lead.
After a back and forth start to the second half, IU Kokomo seized momentum and extended the lead to 10 at 57-47. The Eagles pulled within three of IUK on several occasions in the final ten minutes and within a point with 3:48 to play, but the Cougars refused to surrender the lead.
Having lead for the entirety of the second half, the Cougars managed to close out a two-point, 84-82 road win, Tuesday at Midway.
The Cougars will return to action Saturday at home for Senior Day against IU Southeast. Tip-off is set for 3:00 PM.
