Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Chris Chin Drills Game-Winner, Senior Leaders Propel Cougars to Comeback Win Over Campbellsville (Ky.)

KINGSPORT, Tenn. - The Indiana University Kokomo men's basketball team picked up a solid non-conference win over Mid South Conference foe Campbellsville (Ky.) 61-59, as Chris Chin knocked down a game-winning baseline jumper with 3.4 seconds remaining.

The Cougars trailed by as many as 11 with 2:10 remaining in the first half, but thanks to strong play from the senior leaders in a rare 10:15 AM ET tip-off, IU Kokomo managed to complete the comeback to improve to 5-2 on the season.

IU Kokomo got out to a quick 7-2 lead, but found it difficult to score for much of the remainder of the half. Campbellsville held the Cougars to just 22 first-half points, leading IUK 31-22 after 20 minutes.

Trailing 33-24, the Cougs went on a 9-0 run early in the second half, but the Tigers immediately answered and re-built the lead to seven at 45-38 with 10:17 remaining in the game.

Eric Echelbarger's squad refused to quit, as Drake Moore forced a turnover on the defensive end and scored at the rim out of a timeout on the offensive end, tying the game up at 47 once again with 6:40 to play.

The Cougs trailed 56-55 with 90 seconds remaining, but four-straight IUK points made it a 59-56 Cougar lead before Campbellsville's Keaston Brown knocked down a game-tying triple with eight seconds showing on the clock.

In just his third game of the season due to injury, senior guard Chris Chin dribbled the length of the floor before drilling a baseline jumper in front of the IUK bench, giving the Cougars a 61-59 lead with 3.4 seconds remaining.

Campbellsville did not get a shot off before the buzzer, as IU Kokomo completed the comeback with a late bucket to win by two over a talented Tigers squad.

After just four first half points, Noah Harris scored 11 in the second half to lead the Cougars offensively with 15 points. Dell DeMyers followed with 12 points and six steals.

Chin finished with 11 points, five assists, and three rebounds while senior forward Max Newman pulled down 15 rebounds in the victory, a season-high.
