KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo volleyball team began postseason play Tuesday night inside the Student Activities and Events Center, sweeping number eight seed Midway to advance and host Friday and Saturday's RSC Semifinal and Championship matches.
The #1 seed Cougars will play #4 seed Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Friday evening in Semifinal #2, set for a 7:00 PM first-serve. Semifinal #1 between #3 seed IU east and #2 seed Rio Grande will open the weekend Friday at 4:00 PM inside the SAEC.
IU Kokomo trailed Midway Tuesday 6-4 early in set one before winning 10 of the next 12 points for a six-point lead of their own. Midway battled back to even the set at 17 apiece, but the Cougars went on a 5-0 run out of a
Heather Hayes timeout to take a 22-17 lead.

Lexi Broyles gave the Cougars a 25-18 set one victory.
The Cougars continued their strong play early in set two, doubling the Eagles up at 10-5 before leading 13-8 halfway through the set. After trailing by as many as seven late in set two, Midway pulled within two at 24-22 after a service ace. Freshman phenom
Mya Grigsby closed out the set on the following point however, giving 11th ranked IU Kokomo a 2-0 lead.
Midway kept pace with IUK for much of the third set, as the two squads were even at 15 through 30 points. From then on however, IU Kokomo outscored the Eagles 10-4 down the stretch to win the set 25-19 and the match in straight sets.
The River States Conference hitting percentage leader
Lexi Broyles continued hitting at a high clip Tuesday evening, leading the Cougars with 13 kills and a hitting percentage of .524.
Mya Grigsby and
Cali Cummings each recorded double-digit kills and hit above .300 as well.
Allison Richman led the IU Kokomo setters with 22 assists, while
Kaley Lyons contributed 17. Senior libero
Ellie Garland totaled a match-high 16 digs, with
Julia Sanders adding 10 and
Chloe Carpenter tallying six.
