KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo men's basketball team defeated the Eagles of Alice Lloyd College on Thursday night, earning a dominant 101-69 victory as 11 different Cougars' scored. With the win, the Cougs rise to 14-3 this season with a 4-3 mark in conference play.
The Eagles scored the first basket of the game on a three point shot a mere 12 seconds in. From that point, IUK went on an 11-0 scoring run capped by a triple from
Hunter Jackson.
Alice Lloyd continued to fall behind as IUK continued the offensive onslaught. At the midpoint of the half,
Noah Harris sunk three straight free throws to increase the Cougar lead to 21.
The Eagles fought back to a 15 point deficit, but free throws from Joseph Annan and a three pointer by
Max Newman quickly brought it back up to 20.
In the final minute of the first half, a layup by
Julien Hunter and a dunk by
Noah Harris gave the Cougars a 50-29 halftime lead.
In the second half, IU Kokomo continued to pull further away from the struggling Eagles. The closest ALC came to the Cougars was a 20 point deficit about three minutes into the half.
A three-pointer by
Hayden Ulerick with 35 seconds on the clock lifted the Cougars over 100 points, and they carried a 32-point lead when the buzzer sounded.
Five Cougars scored in double digits in IUK's dominant win, led by
Noah Harris with 18 points. Harris was followed by
Chris Chin with 14 points, while
Hunter Jackson,
Preston Roberts, and
Joseph Annan Jr. all scored 11 points.
The Cougars will return to their home court on Saturday night for another RSC game against West Virginia Tech.
