KOKOMO, Ind. - The IUK women's basketball team lost a contest to Saint-Mary-of-the-Woods College on Saturday, falling by a score of 90-76. With the loss, the Cougars fall to 3-11 on the season.

The Cougars jumped out to an early 3-2 lead on a three-pointer by Olivia Dowden before the Pomeroys answered with a triple of their own. Dowden scored twice more to tie the game at seven, prior to a 10-0 SMWC scoring run to lead 17-7.

At the end of the first quarter, the Cougars trailed 25-17.

Early in the second quarter, layups from Kristen Ridner and Emma Good followed by a pair of free throws by Anna Kiser cut the deficit to seven, but the Pomeroys went on another scoring run to lead by 14 with two minutes remaining in the half.

Mia Catey hit a jumper in the final moments of the quarter, but a layup and a 3 point shot by Saint-Mary's set up a 42-25 halftime deficit for the Cougars.

Early in the third quarter, the teams traded layups and free throws, with SMWC leading by as many as 24 around the midpoint of the period. An offensive surge from IUK in the final moments of the quarter, punctuated by a jump shot from Anna Kiser, cut the deficit to 16 going into the fourth.

The Cougars went on a 6-0 run to open the quarter to trail by only 10 points. From there, the teams continued to battle back and forth, but IUK ultimately failed to put together a comeback, losing by a final score of 90-76.

Olivia Dowden led the Cougars offensively in the loss, pouring in 23 points. Emma Good and Mia Catey scored 12 points each, followed by Anna Kiser with 10 points.

The Cougars will be back in action with two home games next week, facing off against Alice Lloyd College on Thursday and West Virginia Tech on Saturday.
