KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Women's Soccer team defeated Shawnee State by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. After a tie and another win earlier in the week, the Cougars now hold a record of 3-3-4 on the season.
All three of the Cougars goals came from sophomore midfielder
Kaiya Bogers, her first career hat-trick.. Bogers first found the back of the net just under ten minutes into the game, and would strike again in the 34th minute, both goals being unassisted.
Bogers's first goal was a deflection as the defender tried to clear the ball out of the box but instead booted the ball off of Bogers and into the back of the net. Her second goal came in the 35th minute, as she beat the SSU goalkeeper to give IUK a 2-0 lead
Bogers completed her hat trick a mere three minutes into the second half, scoring her third goal of the game on an assist from
Keely Hoopingarner.
Shawnee State scored in the 84th minute of the game, but it proved to be too little too late for the Bears.Â
IU Kokomo outshot Shawnee State 14-13 and took 5 corner kicks compared to SSU's 1.
The Cougars will be back in action next week for a home game against West Virginia Tech on Thursday Sept. 28th.
