MISHAWAKA, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo women's tennis team hit the road Friday for their second match of the season, this time against in-state foe Bethel, a team that is receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25.

3. Heckaman (BU) def. O'Rourke (IUK) 6-4, 6-0
4. Hiser (IUK) def. Pena (BU) 6-4, 2-6, 10-8
5. Rinkenberger (BU) def. Schmidt (IUK) 6-2, 6-3
6. Moana Martins (BU) def. Kennedy Perrin (IUK) 6-1, 6-0

Heading into Friday's match, the Cougars of IU Kokomo were well aware that they would have their hands full against a stout Bethel Pilots squad. The Pilots took the doubles point fairly handily, winning all three matches while dropping just six games total.

The #1 doubles duo of Ava Allen & Reiley Hiser competed well before ultimately dropping their set 6-4.

Bethel managed to win five of the six singles matches, with IU Kokomo's lone point in the match coming from the #4 singles position. Junior Reiley Hiser won the first set 6-4 before dropping the second 6-2, forcing a decisive third-set super-tiebreaker. Hiser eeked out a 10-8 win in the tiebreak to make it a 6-1 loss for the Cougars.

The Cougars will return to action on September 18th, as they will hit the road for another non-conference matchup at Grace College.
