KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Baseball team defeated Rio Grande by a score of 5-4 on Friday, the first game of a 3 game series. With the win, the Cougars rise to 25-19 on the season with a 15-10 mark in conference play.

Offensive Highlights

• In the first inning, Noah Hurlock smashed a three-RBI triple down the right-field line (Tucker Platt scored, Thomas Obergfell scored, and Riley Garczynski scored).
• In the eighth inning, IU Kokomo took a lead by scoring two runs. Garrett Lupoi scored on an RBI single from Jarod Gillespie, followed by another RBI single from Riley Garczynski (Gavin Smith scored).
• Rio Grande scored three runs in the second inning and one in the sixth.

Pitching

• Lucas Letsinger started for the Cougars, pitching six innings. Letsinger gave up six hits and four runs while striking out four batters and walking two.
• Brandon Bultemeier relieved Letsinger in the seventh inning, earning the win for IUK.
• Connor Hurt came to the mound in the ninth inning, earning a save.

The Cougars close out their season tomorrow at home with a doubleheader against Rio Grande to round out a three-game series. The program's seniors will be honored beginning at 11:15 AM.
