NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's tennis team split a pair of matches Friday, winning at IU Southeast in the morning before falling at Oakland City in the afternoon.

IU Southeast Match

The Cougars started the day strong, as they cruised to a 7-0 win over IU Southeast. IU Kokomo took the doubles point, as the #2 doubles duo of Reiley Hiser/Andrea Saylor won 7-5 and #3 doubles was won by the Cougars by default.

With the Grenadiers not having a #5 or #6 singles player, the Cougars won those points by default and entered singles play with a 3-0 lead. Larissa O'Rourke, Reiley Hiser, and Andrea Saylor all won handily to clinch the win and a 6-0 lead, before #1 singles player Gabbie Orlando squeaked out a three-set win to complete the 7-0 shut-out win.

Oakland City Match

IU Kokomo began their second match of the day strong against River States Conference power Oakland City, taking the doubles point by winning two of three doubles matches. The #2 doubles duo of Hiser/Saylor and the #3 doubles pairing of Maria Oliveira and Chloe Schmidt each won 7-5 to take the 1-0 lead heading into singles play.

The Mighty Oaks would bounce back and win five of the six singles matches to earn the 5-2 win over the Cougars. Maria Oliveira was the lone winner for the Cougars in singles play. Oliveira, playing #2 singles, won 6-4, 1-6, 1-0.

The Cougars will return to action this Wednesday, as they are set to take on NCAA Division I IUPUI in Indianapolis.
