KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo Baseball team started their week with a 12-7 victory over the IUPUC Crimson Pride on Tuesday. With the win, the Cougars rise to 11-7 overall this season and are now winners of five-straight.

Offensively

• IUPUC got the scoring started, scoring five runs in the fourth.
• The Cougars scored four runs in the fourth inning. Riley Garczynski hit a 2-RBI single (Jack Leverenz and Hayden Davis scored). Then Gavin Smith hit a sacrifice fly (Luke Barnes scored). Finally, Garrett Lupoi tripled (Riley Garczynski scored).
• Another three runs came in the fifth inning. Riley Garczynski had another 2-RBI hit (Luke Barnes and Matt Iacobucci scored) and then scored on an infield error.
• The Crimson Pride scored their final two runs of the game in the top of the sixth, tying the game 7-7.
• The sixth inning saw another three runs for IUK. Jack Leverenz hit an RBI single (Hayden Davis and Blake Kimball scored) and soon after, scored on a wild pitch.
• The Cougars notched their final two runs in the seventh inning. Thomas Obergfell scored on a wild pitch, followed by an RBI single from Dylan Janke (Blake Kimball scored).

Pitching

• Mason Whiteley started for the Cougars, pitching two innings. Whiteley gave up one hit, one walk, and struck out three batters.
• Asa Christie came in for the third inning, recording 1 walk and 2 strikeouts.
• Owen Harvey pitched the fourth inning, giving up 5 runs (4 earned) on one hit and three walks while striking out one.
• Brandon Bultemeier came in after Harvey, pitching two innings and earning the win. Bultemeier gave up two hits and two runs, walking one and striking out another.
• Garrison Brege pitched the seventh and Mark Goudy the eighth. Brege and Goudy each gave up one walk; Brege had 1 strikeout and Goudy had 2.
• Brandon Clarke closed the game for the Cougars, striking out three straight batters in the top of the ninth.

This weekend, the Cougars travel to Indiana University Southeast for a three game series on Friday and Saturday.
