INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - IU Kokomo Women's tennis team went down to the final court versus NCAA Division II Cedarville University, ultimately falling 4-3 to the Yellow Jackets. This was the Spring opener for both teams. The loss brings the Cougars overall record to 2-5, with three losses coming from a score of 4-3.

1. Orlando /O'Rourke (IUK) def. Totten /Krahn (CU) 6-2
2. Monson /Bobula (CU) def. Saylor /Hiser (IUK) 6-2
3. Van Dyke/Triplett (CU) def. Fishero/Oliviera (IUK) 6-4

SINGLES
1. Orlando (IUK) def. Totten (CU) 6-3, 5-7, 6-2
2. Krahn (CU) def. Oliviera (IUK) 6-4, 6-3
3. Hiser (IUK) def. Bobula (CU) 7-5, 6-2
4. Saylor (IUK) def. Monson (CU) 4-6, 6-4, 6-4
5. Petek (CU) def. Fishero (IUK) 6-3, 6-2
6. Triplett (CU) def. Schmidt (IUK) 6-3, 6-4

Playing no-ad scoring, the Cougars barely lost the lone doubles point. Cedarville won at 2nd and 3rd doubles while the Cougars took the top spot by a score of 6-2. 

Heading into singles play down 1-0, Cougars 1st singles Gabbie Orlando revenged her loss last year to Cedarville's Abby Totten in three sets by a score of 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.  Other Cougars scoring points were Reiley Hiser 7-5, 6-2 and Andrea Saylor in fourth singles. Saylor fought back from a 6-4 loss in the first set to take the final two sets both by identical 6-4 scores. 

Next up for your Cougars will be the U. of St. Francis on February 15th at the Howard County Indoor Tennis Center.
