KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's basketball team had four players score in double-figures in a ten-point loss to River States Conference foe Midway University.
Anya Friend scored the first five points of the game for IU Kokomo, giving the Cougars a 5-2 lead. Midway came back to take their first lead with 4:50 remaining in the first quarter, before taking a 19-15 lead into the second period.
The Eagles led 27-20 before utilizing an 8-0 spurt to extend the lead to 15 with 3:05 left in the second quarter. IU Kokomo freshman
Cameryn Rector drilled a three-pointer in the final seconds of the first half to cut the deficit to 11 at 40-29.
The second half of Tuesday's game was a tale of two quarters, as Midway outscored IU Kokomo by double-digits in the third quarter before the Cougars returned the favor in the fourth. The Eagles dominated the third period, as they took a commanding 70-49 lead into the final ten minutes of play.
As mentioned, the Cougars were resilient after a disappointing third quarter, outscoring Midway 30-19 in the fourth quarter. Friend and
Shamaria Walker led IU Kokomo in the fourth, scoring ten and eight respectively.
The Eagles removed their starters with 1:03 remaining and a 16-point lead in hand, but IU Kokomo immediately cut into the deficit and forced the starters to return from the bench. Despite a valiant comeback attempt in the fourth quarter, the Cougars fell 89-79 to the Eagles of Midway.

Anya Friend led IU Kokomo offensively with 19 points and eight rebounds on 4-7 shooting from three-point land.
Shamaria Walker tallied 18 points and five assists in the loss, finishing through contact at the rim on multiple occasions.Â
Alaya Chapman scored 10 in 13 minutes off of the bench while
Olivia Dowden added 10.
The Cougars will return to action Saturday with an away non-conference matchup at Huntington University. Tip-off is set for 1:00 PM.
