Cougar Soccer Wins Fourth-Straight Saturday at Ohio Christian

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio. - The IU Kokomo soccer team picked up their fourth-consecutive win Saturday, blanking Ohio Christian 5-0. IU Kokomo is now 6-3-4 overall, and 4-0-1 in River States Conference action.

The Cougars dominated Saturday's match-up from the jump, out-shooting the Trailblazers 19-6 and 13-4 in shots on-target. 

Kelsi Hoot recorded IUK's first shot on goal in the eighth minute, but it was the Cougars second shot on-target that found the back of the net. 

Senior Cassie Dispennett fed Kendra Brewer, who beat the goalie for her second goal of the season, giving IU Kokomo an early 1-0 lead. The assist was Dispennett's second of the season.

IU Kokomo would strike again in the 34th minute, as Hoot scored her fifth goal of the fall to extend the IUK lead. RSC goals & points leader Keely Hoopingarner would add another tally before halftime, as Ashlyn Morefield found Hoopingarner for the goal. Hoopingarner's 10th goal of the season gave Morefield her first assist, as IUK led 3-0 after 45 minutes.

Less than 15 minutes into the second half, the Cougars would find pay-dirt yet again, as Brewer scored her second goal of the match to extend the Cougar lead to 4-0. Saturday was Brewer's first multi-goal match of her collegiate career.

IU Kokomo would score once more, as Hoot would score her second goal of the match in the 59th minute to make it a 5-0 Cougar lead. For Hoot, it was her first multi-goal match of the season and second of her career.

Sophomore Sydney Miller got the start in goal for the Cougars, playing the opening 45 minutes and making one save. Alicia Burns was in goal for the second half, stopping all three shots faced.

The Cougars will return to the pitch Thursday at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College. Kickoff is set for 4:00 PM ET.
