KOKOMO, Ind. - The fifteenth-ranked IU Kokomo volleyball team turned in one of their strongest performances of the season Friday night, surrendering just 23 points to Ohio Christian in a three-set thrashing.

Friday's victory is the Cougars 16th straight, improving them to 21-3 and 11-0 in River States Conference action.

IU Kokomo hit for a season best .413, all while holding the Trailblazers to a -.041 hitting percentage.

Leading 9-5 early in set one, the Cougars found their rhythm, as they went on to to win 16 of the next 20 points to take it 25-9.

IUK won the first seven points of set two, essentially putting an end to the set early on. The Cougars used runs of 6-0 & 5-0 to take a commanding 20-5 lead before going on to win 25-7.

The Cougars continued the onslaught in the final set by winning 17 of the first 20 points to lead by 14. IU Kokomo would cruise to a another 25-7 set win to close out a sweep that lasted an hour on the dot.

Senior Audrey Strawsma led the way for the Cougars offensively, collecting eight kills. Maggie Connell added seven and Mia Niekamp had six. 

Kaley Lyons had a 19 assist, 10 dig double-double Friday, her eighth of the season. Alyvia Smith had a strong 15 dig performance, while Allison Richman had 16 assists.

Cali Cummings had a match-high five blocks, while Julia Sanders had a match-high three aces.

The Cougars will be back-in-action Tuesday at home as they welcome IUPUC to the Student Activities & Events Center. First-serve is set for 7:00 PM.
