13 Cougars Score as Men's Basketball Cruises to 98-50 Win

KOKOMO, Ind. - The IUK men's basketball team won in dominant fashion Thursday night, beating the Carlow Celtics 98-50 to earn their fifth straight victory and improve to 16-5 overall and 10-1 in RSC play.

A free throw from Hunter White and a pair of three-pointers from Xavier Hines gave IU Kokomo an early 7-0 lead. Through six minutes, the Cougars led 16-6, and they would hold a lead of at least ten points for the rest of the game. By halftime, the Cougars led by a score of 46-27.

The offensive hot streak for IUK continued to start the second half, jumping out to a 71-42 lead by the midway point of the half. By the time the buzzer sounded, IUK had completed a 48-point rout of Carlow.

The Cougars' win was capitalized by their ability to stay out of foul trouble, which was the Celtics' biggest problem. IUK took a total of 36 foul shots, while Carlow took just 8.

13 different Cougars scored Thursday night led by Xavier Hines. Hines proved deadly from three for the entire game, finishing with a team-high 18 points, 15 of which came from beyond the arc.

Other offensive leaders include Noah Harris with 17 points, Evan Kretz with 12 points, and Dell DeMeyers with 10 points.

The Cougars will return to action Saturday against Point Park University. Tip-off is set for 3:00 P.M inside the Student Activities and Events Center
