KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo women's tennis team won their final home match of the fall Friday afternoon, taking down Goshen College 5-2 for their second-straight win. The Cougars enter next week's final event of the season with a team record of 2-3.

Singles:
#1: Goshen def. Gabbie Orlando (IUK) 6-4, 6-0
#2: Goshen def. Reiley Hiser (IUK) 7-6 (8), 6-0
#3: Andrea Saylor (IUK) def. Goshen 6-1, 6-1
#4: Reese Johnson (IUK) def. Goshen 2-6, 6-3, 10-6
#5: Maria Oliveira (IUK) def. Goshen 6-1, 6-3
#6: Chloe Schmidt (IUK) def. Goshen 6-3, 5-7, 10-7
 
Doubles:
#1: Orlando/Johnson (IUK) def. Goshen 6-4
#2: Goshen def. Saylor/Hiser (IUK) 6-4
#3: O'Rourke/Oliveira (IUK) def Goshen 6-4

IU Kokomo started the match the way they have done so often this fall, by winning the doubles point. #1 doubles duo of Gabbie Orlando and Reese Johnson won 6-4 and the #3 doubles pairing of Larissa O'Rourke and Maria Oliveira won 6-4 as well, giving the Cougs the 1-0 lead.

Andrea Saylor made quick work of her opponent at #3 singles, winning both sets 6-1 to give IUK their second point of the match. Maria Oliveira was not far behind her teammate, taking down her opponent 6-1, 6-3, for a 3-0 IU Kokomo lead. 

Goshen won both the #1 and #2 singles points to trim the IU Kokomo lead to 3-2. Needing just one more point to clinch the victory over the Maple Leafs, it was in the hands of #4 and #6 singles players Reese Johnson and Chloe Schmidt.

Both Johnson's and Schmidt's matches went to three sets, and both would eventually get the job done. Reese Johnson won her third-set tiebreaker 10-6 and Chloe Schmidt won her's 10-7, giving the Cougars a 5-2 win over Goshen

The Cougars will be back-in-action for the final time this fall next week, as they are set to play in the ITA Midwest Regional held at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.
