KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo volleyball team will open 2022 regular season play this Friday afternoon with a pair of matchups at the Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial Tournament hosted by Taylor University. The Cougars will return to Taylor Saturday for another pair of matches, including one against the host Trojans.

The Cougars are coming off of a 2021 season that saw them win their fourth regular season River States Conference title in the last five years and their fourth consecutive RSC Championship. The Cougs finished with a record of 28-9 and a 16-1 RSC mark.

The Bobcats of St. Thomas University (Fla.) opened up the 2022 regular season by hosting the defending NAIA National Champions, Missouri Baptist. St. Thomas fell to number one ranked Missouri Baptist in three straight sets. The Bobcats are set for another match Tuesday evening against Florida National before this weekend's tournament. IU Kokomo fell to St. Thomas in five sets last fall.

Clarke University will head into the weekend with a 1-0 record as they snuck past Roosevelt University in five sets. Friday's matchup will be the first between the universities.

The Taylor Trojans began their 2022 campaign this past weekend with a pair of wins, beating Judson University and and William Penn University. The Trojans were ranked 22 in the 2022 NAIA Preseason Coaches' Poll released August 10. The Cougars are 4-0 all-time against the Trojans with their most recent triumph happening in 2020.

The Cougars final opponent of the opening weekend, the Cardinals of Concordia University (Mich.), open regular season play Tuesday with a tri-match at Huntington University. IU Kokomo is 1-0 against Concordia, having swept them 3-0 last season.
