CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The Indiana University Kokomo baseball team saw their season end Saturday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to #1 seed IU Southeast in the River States Conference Championship. The 2022 campaign saw the Cougars finish with a 26-22 overall record and 16-7 conference mark in
Drew Brantley's first year at the helm.

JT Holton impressed Saturday and kept the Cougars within striking distance but IUK was only able to manage one hit outside of fifth-year senior
Jared Heard's four hits. The Cougars struck out just twice on the day but had 18 groundouts.
Key Moments
- Heard tallied his first hit of the game in the top of the first but nothing came of it.
- JT Holton posted three consecutive zeroes to begin the game, retiring the Grenadiers in order in the second and third.
- RSC Player of the Year Trevor Campbell walked to open the IU Southeast half of the fourth inning before Brody Tanksley went yard to left field, giving the Grenadiers a 2-0 lead.
- The Cougars threatened in the fifth after Dylan Steele reached on an error to open the frame. Steele stole second and advanced to third on a Cody Bible fielder's choice, but IUK couldn't push him across with two outs.
- The Grenadiers threatened in the fifth with runners at first and third but Ryan Beck entered the game with two outs and induced a flyout to end the inning.
- Heard singled for the third time in the sixth and advanced to second on a wild pitch where he would be stranded.
- Beck struck John Ullom out looking to end another Grenadier threat in the sixth and then struck Trevor Campbell out with two outs and a runner at third in the seventh.
- Mills reached via walk with two outs in the eighth and Heard followed with his fourth hit, but Hurlock lined out to right field to end the Cougar threat.
- IU Southeast manufactured two insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth on three hits to extend their lead to 4-0.
- Jack Leverenz led off the top of the ninth with a double to right-center but he would not advance as the Cougs grounded out three straight times to end the game.

- JT Holton took the loss going 4.2 innings and striking out three while allowing just three hits and two earned runs.
- Fifth-year senior Ryan Beck threw the final 3.1 innings scattering six hits and giving up two earned runs while striking out three.
