KOKOMO, Ind. – A four-run first inning helped lead the Indiana University Kokomo baseball team to its first River States Conference victory of the season. The Cougars defeated Ohio Christian University, 5-0 to move to 1-0 in league play and 6-6 overall on the season.

- Owen Callaghan gave IU Kokomo a quality start on the mound as the graduate student earned the win, tossing seven innings, allowing just three hits while striking out six batters.
- The Cougars plated four runs in the home half of the first inning as Riley Garczynski and Pat Mills both singled to start the inning. Noah Hurlock picked up an RBI with a double to right-center scoring Garczynski. Hurlock and Mills scored on a wild pitch and passed ball. Sean Becker drove in Dylan Janke for the Cougars final run of the inning.
- Callaghan retired 11 straight OCU batters from the third to the sixth inning.
- Bryce Lenz singled in the seventh and stole second and third, later scoring on a passed ball to make it 5-0 in favor of IU Kokomo.
- Lucas Letsinger came on in relief in the eighth retired the side in order and did the same in the ninth to close out the game.
