KOKOMO, Ind. - The IU Kokomo men's basketball team took down IU Southeast in an overtime thriller Saturday to stay perfect in River States Conference play. The 85-81 win moves the Cougars to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in conference action.

Hunter White led all scorers with 22 points. White also had five assists and seven rebounds. Ty Wills had 19 points on 8-11 shooting from the field.

Fifth-year senior Darian Porch stepped up in a big way as he has done all year, tallying 12 points and 16 rebounds.

IU Southeast jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but the Cougars responded with 12 straight-points for a 12-4 lead. The Cougars extended their lead to ten at the 11:07 mark of the first half, and eventually led by 11 with 7:44 remaining in the first half.

IU Kokomo led by 11 at 36-25 before the Grenadiers cut into the Cougar lead. IU Southeast trimmed the lead to five with six-straight points, but IUK managed to build the lead back to nine. A Grenadier three-pointer with 34 seconds remaining to cut the IUK lead to six. The Cougars took a 40-34 lead into halftime.

The Grenadiers came out of halftime strong, tying the game at 42 and then taking a two-point lead at 44-42 two and a half minutes into the second-half. A Grenadier three-pointer gave IU Southeast a 54-50 lead over the Cougars with 12:44 remaining.

IU Kokomo led by a point at 62-61 before going on a mini-run. The Cougars scored six-straight for a seven-point lead. The Grenadiers battled back to tie the game at 70 with 54 seconds remaining. The Cougars led 72-70 with 11 seconds remaining an IU Southeast layup with 1.7 seconds remaining tied the game at 72 to force overtime.

Hunter White scored on the opening possession of overtime via a Hunter Jackson assist, giving IUK a two-point lead. IU Southeast took their only lead of overtime at 75-74 with 3:40 remaining. With the game tied at 77, Darian Porch drilled a trey for an 80-77 IUK lead. 

IU Kokomo led by six with 1:58 remaining, but IU Southeast cut the lead to two points with 35 seconds remaining. Ty Wills found Zach Rinehart in transition for an easy layup with six seconds remaining, sealing the 85-81 overtime win for IU Kokomo over IU Southeast.

The Cougars will return to action Tuesday, as they welcome Oakland City to town. Tip-off is set for 7:30 P.M.
