UNIVERSITY PARK, Ill. – The IU Kokomo men's basketball team dominated Great Lakes Christian College Saturday afternoon, beating the Crusaders 79-49 to start the season 2-0.
Xavier Hines led all scorers with 18 points on 6-7 shooting from three-point range.
Darian Porch contributed 13 points and six rebounds.
The Cougars carried their strong play over from last night's season-opener, jumping out to a 12-2 lead less than six minutes into the game. IUK led 12-4 before
Xavier Hines drilled three-straight triples to extend the IUK lead to 21-6.
Junior guard
Hunter Jackson scored five-straight points to extend the IU Kokomo lead to 21 at 32-11 with 6:22 remaining in the first half. The Cougars led Great Lakes Christian College 44-21 at halftime.
IU Kokomo maintained a 20-point lead throughout the second half, and an Evan Kretz three-pointer with 5:09 to go in the game gave IUK a 32-point lead at 71-39. The Cougs rolled past Great Lakes Christian College 79-49 to improve to 2-0.
The Cougars will return to action Wednesday evening for their home-opener, as they will welcome IU Northwest to the Student Activities and Events Center. Tip-off is set for 7:30 P.M.
