KOKOMO, Ind. - The Indiana University Kokomo men's basketball team will open 2022 regular season play Friday night against Governor's State University as part of the Jaguars Tip-Off Classic. The Cougars will face a quick turnaround as they are set to take on Great Lakes Christian College Saturday afternoon to close out the weekend.

IU Kokomo vs Great Lakes Christian College  • 2:00 P.M.

IU Kokomo is coming off of a 2021-2022 campaign that saw them finish the year with a record of 32-4. The Cougars won both the River States Conference regular season title as well as the tournament championship. IUK advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NAIA National Tournament, knocking off the number one overall seed William Penn in the round of 32 on their home floor.

The Cougars are forced to replace their three leading scorers due to graduation from last year's squad. Senior guard Hunter White was IUK's fourth-leading scorer last season, and will look to shoulder a bigger load of the scoring this year.

The Jaguars of Governor's State finished last season with a record of 10-19. Friday night's matchup between the two schools will be each's first game of the season. Governor's State returns a lot from last year's squad, including their top-five leading scorers.

The Cougars and Jaguars met last season in Kokomo for the first time ever, with IU Kokomo coming out on top 65-58. 

Great Lakes Christian College enters this year on the backs of a 2021-2022 season that saw them finish with a record of 16-14. The Crusaders played two River States Conference opponents in Ohio Christian and Rio Grande, beating OCU and falling to the Red Storm. IU Kokomo was 3-0 against those schools last season.

Saturday afternoon's game will be the first all-time between the Cougars and Crusaders.
