PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Indiana University Kokomo men's basketball cruised to an 110-56 victory over Carlow University Saturday afternoon. The Cougars have now won seven straight and 14 of their last 16. With the win, IUK improves to 19-3 overall and 9-1 in River States Conference action.
IU Kokomo shot 59.2% from the field while holding Carlow to a 29.9% shooting percentage. The Cougar offense had 30 assists on 42 made field goals.
The Cougars jumped out to a 5-0 lead before the Celtics got on the board with a Darien Matthew triple. Leading 15-9, IUK distanced themselves with a 21-6 run over the next seven minutes to take a commanding 36-15 lead over Carlow. IU Kokomo extended the lead to as many as 24 in the first half and led 52-31 at halftime.
IUK opened the second half with a 12-2 spurt to grow the lead to 31 just three minutes into the half. The Celtics responded with a 6-0 run to trim the Cougar lead to 25, but it was all IUK from then on.
The Cougars answered the Celtic run with a 20-4 run to make it an 84-43 IUK lead halfway through the second half. IU Kokomo doubled-up Carlow 26-13 over the course of the final 9:57 to earn a 110-56 road win.
Trequan Spivey led all scorers with 21 points going 8-11 from the field including 5/8 from deep, while newcomer
Tayson Parker shined in his IUK debut scoring 19 points.
Hunter White had a team-high six assists.
Freshman
Noah Harris had a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds and
Allante Harper contributed 10 points.
Zach Rinehart had an eight-point, eight rebound performance.
The Cougars will return home for a stretch of three home games in six days beginning with a tough West Virginia Tech squad Thursday evening. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
