KOKOMO, Ind. – The Indiana University Kokomo volleyball team is set to open its 2021 season this weekend, competing in the Marian University Knight Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

• Friday, August 27 – IU Kokomo vs. Marian University | 2:00 p.m.
• Friday, August 27 – IU Kokomo vs. Indiana Tech | 4:00 p.m.
• Saturday, August 28 – IU Kokomo vs. Kentucky Christian | 11 a.m.
• Saturday, August 28 – IU Kokomo vs. Lincoln College | 1 p.m.

OPENING SERVE

• The Cougars return to the court after a historic 2020 season that ended at the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Championship. IU Kokomo earned their first-ever victory at the Tyson Events Center in Sioux City, Iowa with a 3-2 win over Keiser University.  

LAST MEETINGS

• The Cougars played Marian last season in Indianapolis, falling 3-0 (25-20, 25-13, 25-18). IU Kokomo is 2-3 against the Knights. The Knights come into Friday's matchup with a perfect 4-0 record on 2021. 
• Indiana Tech claimed the only meeting against the Cougars back on March 10, 2021, winning 3-1 (25-18, 25-18, 19-)25, 25-14). Friday's matchup will be the first match of the year for the Warriors. 
• The Cougars own the series record over Kentucky Christian, winning both matches, 3-0. The last meeting between the two teams dates to October 27, 2018. KCU plays their first match of the season on Friday at 4 p.m. against IU East. 
• Saturday's meeting with Lincoln College will be the first between the two teams. The Lynx have one match under their belt this season, a 3-1 victory over St. Mary of the Woods.

• IU Kokomo enters the 2021 season ranked 24th in the NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Top 25 Poll.
• IU Kokomo is the only River States Conference program to appear in the 2021 poll. 
• The Cougars closed out the historic 2020 season ranked No. 17 in the poll. 
• River States Conference coaches unanimously selected the Cougars to win their sixth conference title in seven years.
