Box Score MUNCIE, Ind. – The Indiana University Kokomo men's basketball team dropped an exhibition contest to Ball State Sunday afternoon, 85-58. The Cougars competed well against the NCAA Division I Cardinals, and IUK senior
Trequan Spivey led all scorers with 21 points.
The Cougars were neck and neck early with the Cardinals thanks to a strong start offensively. Senior
Darian Porch drilled two three-pointers while
Trequan Spivey hit a trey of his own in the opening five minutes, and the Cougars trailed by just two at the under 16 media timeout.
Ball State shot 55% from the field in the first half, and out of the timeout they utilized a 16-4 run to lead the Cougars 33-19. Over the final ten minutes of the half, the Cardinals slowly extended their lead and led IU Kokomo 53-30 at halftime.
A 7-0 Ball State run to open the second half extended their lead to 30. The Cardinal lead grew to as many as 36 points, but the Cougars did well to cut the Ball State lead to 28 over the final 7:53 of the game. The Cougars were outrebounded by just one in the second half but fell to Ball State 85-58.
In addition to Spivey's 21 points,
Darian Porch added ten points while
Hunter White had nine points and five boards.
Zach Rinehart grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
IU Kokomo will return to the court and RSC action Thursday, December 16, as they head north to take on IU Northwest. Tipoff is at 8:30 p.m. ET.
