KOKOMO, Ind. – Tia Chambers recorded her first double-double of the season scoring 19 points and grabbing 12 rebounds in a 91-70 loss to Bethel College Tuesday evening. The Indiana University Kokomo women's basketball team falls to 0-3 on the season.

The Cougars got the scoring started, taking a 2-0 lead on a Tia Chambers layup just 27 seconds in to the game. Both teams struggled to score from the field in the opening quarter, but the free throw line made the difference. The Pilots earned ten foul shots compared to the Cougars two, and they were a perfect 10-10 from the line. Tia Chambers had nine of her nineteen points come in the first quarter, but IU Kokomo trailed 20-14 after the first quarter.

IU Kokomo opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run, with a Karly Kirkpatrick steal leading to a Jaela Meister layup to give the Cougars a 21-20 lead. With the score tied at 30, the Pilots went on an 11-0 run to distance themselves and take a 41-30 lead. The Cougars cut into the lead before half, entering halftime trailing 41-34.

Bethel forced 21 IU Kokomo turnovers in the second half, on their way to a 91-70 win over the Cougars.

Chambers led the Cougars with 19 points and 12 boards while Anya Friend added a career-high nine points for the Cougars. Kashlin Biffle contributed eight points.

IU Kokomo returns to the court this Saturday as they welcome Goshen College to the Student Activities and Events Center. Tip-off is set for 3:30 p.m.
