Men's Basketball Takes Down Sun Conference's Top Team in Day One of The Show

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Four players scored in double figured on Saturday afternoon as the Indiana University Kokomo men's basketball team cruised to an 85-69 victory over Warner University at "The Show" event at the MeadowView Convention Center. 
 
The Cougars trailed just once against the preseason top-ranked team in the Sun Conference. The Royals entered today's game with a 6-1 record and were receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll. 
 
Allante Harper led four Cougars in double figures with 20 points on 6-of-12 shooting with five of his field goals coming from long distance. Harper also dished out four assists. 
 
Noah Harris had a career night, scoring 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting off the bench. Trequan Spivey continued to score in bunches as the senior totaled 16 points to up his team-high average to just over 15 points per game. Hunter White narrowly missed a double-double, scoring 11 points and pulling in a team-high nine boards. 
 
IU Kokomo shot 51 percent from the field, their second straight game over the 50 percent mark. 
 
The Cougars went down by a point at the 15:55 mark in the opening half but a Desean Hampton dunk capped on a 6-0 run that would give IUK the lead for good. The first double-digit lead for the Cougars came with 8:29 left in the first half when Spivey made a layup. The Cougars led by as many as 15 points in the first half and would take a 13-point advantage into halftime. 
 
An 8-2 run by the Royals over the first 2:18 of the second half cut the IUK lead to seven points but over the next six minutes, the Cougars would build their lead back to 15 points. IU Kokomo would maintain a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. The Cougars largest lead came with 13 seconds to play as Hunter White nabbed a steal and finished with the dunk to put IUK up 19. The Royals hit a three-pointer in the last possession of the game to make it a 16-point margin for the Cougars. 
 
The Cougars will wrap up play in Kingsport tomorrow as they take on Washington Adventist at 2:30 p.m.
