OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Indiana University Kokomo men's basketball team extended its winning streak to four games with a 68-58 win over Brescia University to open River States Conference play on Tuesday night. The Cougars are now 5-1 on the season and 1-0 in conference action.
The Cougars gained the lead at the 15:01 mark in the opening half and never looked back.
With 11:17 left to play in the first half,
Noah Harris gave the Cougars their first lead of the game as he knocked down a shot from beyond the arc on the assist from
Hunter White.
IU Kokomo shot the ball well from long distance in the first half, making nine triples, a season-high for a half. Harris led the way with three while
Trequan Spivey and
Allante Harper each had two.
White sent the Cougars into the lockerroom with a 44-30 lead after a Fastbreak dunk off the Bearcats turnover as time expired in the half. The 44 points through the first 20 minutes is the most scored by the Cougars in a half this season.
Both offenses went stagnant for a period in the second half, scoring a combined six points over a six-minute stretch.
Brescia tried to mount a comeback late in the game, cutting the IU Kokomo lead to six points with just under a minute left but IUK converted free throws down the stretch to fend off the Bearcats.
The Cougars will return to action on Friday as they host Alice Lloyd College in an RSC contest. Tipoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
