Heather Hayes was named Director of Athletics at Indiana University Kokomo in the spring of 2024, following a successful term as Interim Director beginning in the fall of 2023. A proven leader with a deep understanding of collegiate athletics, Hayes brings decades of experience in coaching, mentorship, and program development to the role.
As Director of Athletics, Hayes oversees the strategic direction, growth, and daily operations of IU Kokomo’s athletic department. Her leadership emphasizes student-athlete success, academic excellence, and competitive achievement across all sports. She works closely with coaches, staff, and university leadership to strengthen the campus community through athletics and to enhance the overall student-athlete experience.
Prior to stepping into athletic administration, Hayes built a distinguished career in collegiate athletics, bringing with her a strong foundation in team management, recruitment, and academic support. Her collaborative leadership style and passion for student development have made her a respected figure within both the IU Kokomo community and the broader River States Conference.
Hayes holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Indianapolis and a Master’s from Ball State University. She resides in Frankfort, Indiana, with her husband, Allen.
